Pilot drills are used in conjunction with the arbors in order to help guide the hole saw and so keep the hole saw straighter and prevent excess wobbling while in use.

Carbide Tipped Pilot Drills are to be used in conjustions with carbide tipped hole saws and carbide grit hole saws.

Please see the manufacturers instructions for guidance on the length of pilot drill needed if not using a Morse arbor.
